tights ... not just for robin hood anymore

I love the look of tights but even as a little kid I hated wearing them. You will not catch me in a pair of nylons to save my life but tights are a little different. I have decided to put comfort on the back burner and plunge into my purple colored tights for the sake of fashion. Besides feeling overheated at work I love the pop of color and can't wait to purchase a pair of fuchsia colored tights. Move over Robin Hood.

love her style: Kate Middleton

If you know me at all you know that I was mildly obsessed with Princess Diana back in the day. I mean as a girl who didn't want to be a real life Princess?  Love or hate William it doesn't matter, you marry him and you WILL (hahahaahaahha) be the next Princess.  With that said ... WELL DONE. Kate Middleton is gorgeous and has impeccable fashion sense. I have yet to see an outfit on her I didn't like.  Hats off to Kate! Now if only we could wear those amazing hats over here in America.

vintage expo post dos

It's all in the details. Here are the little black dresses that my roommate Jen and I picked up last weekend at the vintage expo. Not only are these dresses adorable but they are very unique.  Now we just need an event to wear them to.

ba ba blouses

I have been on the hunt for patterned blouses to go with my whole mix and match idea.  Last weekend I looked and didn't find anything that I liked.  I am convinced I will find some vintage blouses one of these days so until I find some here are a few ideas that I liked.

the moon-spinners

I know this is going to be an odd post BUT for some reason I was thinking about my favorite actress from childhood ... Hayley Mills. Then I was thinking about about my trip to Greece with my sister back in in in in OMG I can't even remember the year (I was living in Boston).  Ohhh I know why I started thinking about all this because of the skirt I am wearing today.  I wore it in Greece.  Anyway long story but the short version is my sister Ann and I loved the movie "The Moon-Spinners" when we were growing up.  We decided to visit where it was filmed which was the island of Crete. Now you are thinking what does this have to do with a fashion blog?  I love love love the clothes she wore in this movie. It also makes me want to A.) watch this movie tonight, B.) go on a vacation and C.) wear fun vintage clothes. If you haven't seen this movie and you like old movies from the 1960's you will need to watch this. It's a classic!

rain rain go away ...

and honestly please do not come back another day (well at least not for a long time). It has been raining for over a week straight and I am starting to lose my mind. I wake up and its raining, I look outside at work and its raining (actually I don't care when I am at work) and when I drive home it is raining. I have decided to buy some rain boots to brighten up my dreary days. Here are a few examples of ones that I like. Ohhh I bet if I buy them it will stop raining!

vintage expo post uno

This weekend was the Vintage Expo in Santa Monica.  I have been to a few in the past back in Minnesota so I was dying to see what this one was all about. As I was trying to prepare myself for a day of amazing shopping I realized I needed to stop for cash.  At the bowling alley across the street for the Civic Auditorium I stood in line at the ATM behind two girls who I could tell were also going to the Expo.  I asked if they had been over there yet and they both looked at me and said "OH YES, it's amazing." One of the girls took out cash on one debit card and then used another card to take out even more money as she was calling her husband to tell him to transfer funds into that account. I knew this was A.) a good sign and B.) a bad sign. My mom, roommate and I walked in and my roommate said "Jane this must be your heaven."  She was right it was. I couldn't believe all the top designer vintage pieces from every era. I now know why that girl called her husband to transfer funds. As I was not prepared financially I did find a few pieces and I will include those in my next post. However, I did find a dress that was not only featured in a blog post by Atlantis Home but also worn by Drew Barrymore to a premier recently. I had to take a pic of it and a couple other shots of some amazing finds that were WAY out of my price range.

70's are back for spring

I was reading The Wall Street Journal.  That's right from time to time I read the newspaper. Actually my boss gets a copy everyday and I check out the Personal Journal section because that is where all the fashion articles are located. Today's topic was That 70's Revival. I have to admit I am actually very excited about this. I love the clothes from the 70's so when I read that Spring 2011 is going to be bringing the 70's back I decided to check out some staple items for Spring.
1. Pantsuits (check)
2. Wide-leg pants (check)
3. Blazers (kind of check but I have some)
4. Hot pants (maybe if I lose a few lbs)
5. Peasant blouses (check)
6. Maxi dresses (who doesn't have one)

Here are a few examples from Spring 2011 Runway Shows.

mix and match

I have been dying to try this trend but as I go to my closet to pull out a "mix and match" outfit I have realized that I am lacking in the patterned shirt department.  This is my weekend project ... to find a couple shirts that will work with my array of skirts. In the mean time check out a few inspirations.

it's true it's true ... way to go J.Crew

I have always heard that J.Crew had a shoe-of-the-month club.  I just never knew how to find it.  I would look for it online and on their website, blah, blah, blah. Thanks to other bloggers I found it! It's not cheap but I heard it was AWESOME and well worth it. Now just how do I find $1800 lying around???? Any suggestions?  Any donations to my shoe obsession fund?

baaaaaag (as we say it in minnesota)

So they make fun of the way I say BAG. I like how I say it! I decided that since I have been using the same two bags for the past year I would look into investing in a new one.  Here are a few that I am thinking about.

I will admit when they came out with must haves for fall I got very excited when they said fur vests.  Why?  Because I love my faux fur vest from last winter and I am excited to wear it again. I also love love love love love this vintage necklace I picked up back in Minnesota in September.  That's right HAPPY OCTOBER.
